The Most Expensive Glass of Alcohol
How much does a glass of alcohol cost? In Bulgaria the answer of this question is: a human life.
The world ice-dancing champion Maxim Staviiski paid this price after sitting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol to continue the black tradition that is constantly taking the lives of hundreds of people all across the country.
One of the idols in Bulgarian sport afforded the luxury to drive drunk and killed a 24-year-old man, depriving him of the chance to probably achieve as much as Maxim himself managed to.
Strangely enough Bulgarians used to believe that they are insured against the horrible disasters in life. They often run the risk of doing reckless things bearing in mind the statement "That could not happen to me". And the results are obvious, especially seeing what the situation on the roads is.
The most ironic fact in this case is that Maxim, together with his life and sport partner Albena, are among the faces of the campaign "If you're drunk - get off the car, I want to get there alive". The destiny chose the cruelest way to show him what it is all about. It is a pity such gifted and really valuable person now has to live with the thought of killing someone.
I sincerely hope this accident turns into the lesson, which Bulgarian drivers will finally take to heart and stop killing their families and friends untimely. While there is life, there is hope... (source NOVINITE)
